Mark Zuckerberg in court – level 2

23-02-2026 15:00

Mark Zuckerberg goes to court in an important case about social media and young people.

A 20-year-old woman says she started to use Instagram and YouTube when she was very young. She says she later felt addicted and depressed. She believes the apps hurt her mental health. Her lawyer shows emails from the company. In the email, Meta bosses spoke about the growing number of users and time on the apps.

The lawyer also talked about age limits. Meta said children under 13 couldn’t join the apps, but emails showed problems with this rule. Zuckerberg said he was sorry that the company didn’t act faster. He says the company tries to make its apps safer.

Many parents want a change. They want social media companies to be responsible. This case may affect future rules.

Difficult words: addicted (not able to stop doing or using something), age limit (the youngest or oldest age allowed), act (to do something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What did emails from Meta bosses reveal about the company’s age-limit policy for under-13 users?
