Montreal snow dump site – level 3

25-02-2025 15:00

Have you ever wondered where all the snow goes after a big winter storm?

In Montreal, there are ten snow dump sites, each capable of holding the equivalent of 800 Olympic swimming pools. One of the largest sites, the Angrignon dump, is now a massive 30-meter-high snow mountain after a record snowfall. On average, five trucks per minute unload snow, and the city is using 130% more trucks than usual because they fill up so quickly. After the storm, this site alone will contain six million cubic meters of snow, half of what Montreal receives in winter.

Despite this, officials are not concerned. The snow mountain will take until September to melt, even with machines helping to reduce its height. No matter how much snow falls, the city continues its operations as usual, ensuring that streets and sidewalks remain clear throughout winter.

Difficult words: capable (having the ability or quality to do or achieve a specified thing), equivalent (equal in value or amount).

What is the name of the Montreal dump site that turned into a 30-meter-high snow mountain, and when is it expected to completely melt?
