Pope Francis dies – level 2

25-04-2025 07:00

Pope Francis died at the age of 88. He died on Easter Monday morning in his home at the Vatican.

The news came just one day after people could see him in St. Peter’s Square saying Happy Easter. He was in hospital before because he was sick with double pneumonia, but he was back home again before Easter.

Cardinal Farrell gave the sad news. He said Pope Francis spent his life helping God and the Church. He also said Francis showed love, courage, and care for people, especially for the poor.

Pope Francis became the leader of the Catholic Church in 2013. He came from Latin America and wanted to live a simple life. He often helped people who were in need.

Difficult words: pneumonia (sickness of the lungs), courage (being brave), poor (not having enough money).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Which qualities did Cardinal Farrell say Pope Francis showed toward people, particularly the poor?
