Pope Francis dies – level 3
25-04-2025 07:00
Pope Francis died at 88 in his home at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican on Easter Monday morning. The news was shared by the Vatican shortly after his death. Just the day before, he was seen in St. Peter’s Square greeting crowds for Easter.
Despite health issues in recent months, including a hospital stay for double pneumonia, he had made some appearances in public. He didn’t deliver the Easter sermon but still took part in celebrations.
Cardinal Farrell announced the news with deep sadness. He described Pope Francis as a man who devoted his life to serving God and the Church. He also said that Francis showed the values of courage, love, and loyalty to the Gospel, especially by supporting the poor and people in need. The Vatican praised his work and asked people to pray for him.
Pope Francis became Pope in 2013 and was the first Latin American leader of the Catholic Church.
Difficult words: sermon (a part of a Christian church ceremony in which a priest gives a talk on a religious or moral subject), Gospel (the message of Jesus in the bible).
