The Amani Festival moves to another place – level 1

04-03-2026 07:00

The Amani Festival is a music and culture festival in Goma, DR Congo. In 2026, it will not happen in Goma. It will move to Lubumbashi. The situation in Goma is not safe.

Rebel fighters control Goma since 2025. The festival starts in 2014. It is about peace and living together. Many people in Goma feel sad that the festival is moving. But they understand that this can help the festival continue.

The festival still wants to make people happy. It brings peace, even when there is war.

Difficult words: culture festival (an event where people celebrate music, art, food, and traditions), rebel (a person who fights against the government or authority), peace (a situation with no war or fighting).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why do many people in Goma accept that the festival will move to Lubumbashi in 2026?
