Tickets to the Louvre cost more – level 2
16-01-2026 07:00
The Louvre Museum in Paris now charges higher prices to visitors from outside Europe.
The entry fee rises from 22 euros to 32 euros. The museum says it needs more money to fix and improve the building. Other French museums also plan similar price changes.
This system uses dual pricing, which means people pay different prices based on where they live. Some tourists say the price feels fine, but others say it feels unfair. Some believe that culture should stay open to everyone and not become only a paid product.
The government supports the plan and says the museum needs funds for safety and repairs. Children under 18 can still enter for free. People talk a lot about money and if it is fair to pay for culture.
Difficult words: entry fee (money you pay to go inside a place), based on (decided by something), fund (money used to pay for something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What reason did the museum give for raising its entry fee from 22 to 32 euros?
