A Czech man changes the world of 3D printing – level 2
11-11-2025 07:00
Josef Průša is a Czech entrepreneur and engineer who became one of Europe’s most influential people in 3D printing. As a student, he experimented with music technology and built his first 3D printer to make customized parts.
His design quickly gained global interest, and in 2012, he founded Prusa Research in Prague. The company now employs over 1,000 people and sells 3D printers to customers on every continent, including large organizations such as NASA, Mercedes, and MIT.
Průša’s open-source approach inspires countless small companies to innovate using cheaper printers locally. He believes 3D printing can bring manufacturing back to Europe by helping entrepreneurs design, produce, and compete independently.
Difficult words: entrepreneur (someone who starts and manages their own business), influential (having the power to change people’s opinions or the way things develop), customized (made or changed to fit one person’s or company’s special needs), open-source approach (a way of working where people share their software or designs freely so others can use, change, and improve them).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What outcome does Průša believe 3D printing can achieve for European manufacturing?
