Indian pilots have to rest more – level 2

10-12-2025 07:00

Airports in India had big problems after new rules required pilots to have more rest. The company Indigo canceled many flights. Passengers waited for long hours, and some tickets were very expensive. The rules wanted to make flying safer.

Indigo first blamed operational problems, but later said it didn’t prepare well for the change. The company didn’t hire enough pilots or workers. This caused many flights to be late or canceled. Authorities gave Indigo a temporary break from some rules while they study the situation.

Experts explain that Indigo controls most of the domestic flights. They say India should support smaller airlines. This can stop one company from causing major problems and make travel safer for all passengers.

Difficult words: blame (to say someone is responsible for a problem), temporary (for a short time), domestic (inside a country, not international).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What solution did experts propose to prevent a single airline’s dominance from causing widespread travel disruptions and improve safety for passengers?
