Inter Miami players in the White House – level 3

10-03-2026 07:00

President Donald Trump welcomed the soccer team Inter Miami to the White House after the team won the 2025 MLS Cup.

The team won the final game 3–1 against Vancouver in December. The visit was special because Lionel Messi, one of the most famous soccer players in the world, also came to the White House.

During the event, the president praised the team and their success. He said it was a special moment and his privilege because no American president had welcomed Messi to the White House before. Trump also said his son Barron is a big fan of Messi and of another famous player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Jorge Mas, one of theclub owners, gave the president several gifts. They presented him with a team jersey with the number 47 and a special soccer ball. The team also invited the president to celebrate their championship victory together.

Difficult words: privilege (a special honor or opportunity that not everyone has), praise (to say good things about someone), jersey (a shirt that players wear in sport).
