Concert tickets cost too much – level 2
21-04-2026 15:00
Concert tickets are very expensive, and now a court in New York says it knows why.
A jury found that the company Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, is an illegal monopoly. This means they are too powerful. Because there are no other companies, ticket prices can be very high. The US government and many states want to break the company into smaller pieces. They want Ticketmaster to be a separate company again.
Live Nation says it will fight the decision, but experts think the company will have to change. This could lead to lower prices and more choices for music lovers in the future.
Difficult words: monopoly (when one company is too big and strong), powerful (big and strong), choice (one of two or more different things you can choose from).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What benefits might music lovers see if Live Nation is split into separate companies?
