The best countries to retire – level 1
19-10-2026 07:00
A new report says that Uruguay is now the best place in the world to retire. Last year, Portugal is number one, but now it is fifth.
The report looks at many countries to find the best countries for older people. Europe still has six countries in the top ten list, including Spain, Italy, and Greece. European places are very nice, safe, and clean, but they often have high taxes.
Other parts of the world, like South America, have lower costs and easier rules. People who want to move abroad can choose what they like most, like good weather, low taxes, or easy travel.
Difficult words: retire (to stop working, usually when you are older), tax (money you must pay to the government), abroad (in or to another country).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What advantages do other parts of the world, like South America, offer to people who want to move abroad?
