Pumpkin festival – level 2

Pumpkin festival

22-10-2026 07:00

A famous autumn pumpkin festival opened at a castle near Brussels. Around 50,000 visitors are expected to attend it.

The event celebrates pumpkins and squashes of all shapes and sizes, brought from Belgium, Portugal, and Germany. The biggest pumpkin at the festival weighs an impressive 772 kilograms. Even though the summer was very hot and made farming difficult, the harvest display is still wonderful. Visitors can enjoy many fun activities, such as carving pumpkins for Halloween or watching giant pumpkins used as boats on the water.

Families and autumn fans gather at the castle to celebrate the season, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and see creative pumpkin art.

Difficult words: squash (a vegetable similar to pumpkins), impressive (something big, important, or of good quality), festive (cheerful and full of joy).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Which three countries supplied pumpkins and squashes for the event?
