Hackers attack Ukrainian and Russian emergency apps – level 2
06-11-2026 07:00
Both Ukraine and Russia say hackers attacked their official emergency apps with fake safety warnings.
People in Ukraine got scary messages on their phones about radiation, chemical danger, and street fights. Officials told everyone it was a fake message from Russian hackers and said their air defense was completely safe. A few hours later, Russia said its own emergency app was also hacked, and people got messages in Ukrainian.
Millions of people use these mobile apps every day to stay safe from real attacks. Experts say these digital attacks are meant to scare people, create confusion, and make people lose trust in official warning systems on both sides of the war.
Difficult words: radiation (dangerous energy from a nuclear bomb or other objects), air defense (rockets and systems which shoot down planes, rockets, or drones), confusion (a situation in which people are uncertain or don’t understand what is happening).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What false warnings did people in Ukraine receive on their phones, and what did officials say about their air defense?
