A large ship crashes near a man’s house – level 1
30-05-2025 15:00
There is a man in Norway named Johan Helberg. He lives near the sea. One morning, he sees a big ship next to his house. The ship is very close. It almost hits his home.
Johan does not hear the ship. He sleeps all night. A neighbor rings the bell. Johan wakes up and sees the ship. The ship is 135 meters long. It stops on land near Johan’s home. Only one small thing breaks — a wire from the heating pump. Nobody is hurt. No oil comes out from the ship.
The police and the shipping company talk about the problem. They try to move the ship, but it does not move.
Difficult words: hit (to crash into something or someone), bell (a small object which makes a sound when you hit or move it), wire (a long, thin piece of metal for electricity).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What was the only thing that broke when the 135-meter-long ship stopped on land near Johan’s home?
