A new machine helps people die – level 2
27-01-2026 07:00
A Swiss man showed a new suicide machine which can take two people at the same time. The pod would use AI to test if a person has a clear mind before they choose to die. He says a computer can decide better than a doctor.
Many doctors and ethics experts don’t agree. They say AI often makes mistakes and can’t understand human feelings well enough. They worry that machines will make final choices for people.
Switzerland allows assisted suicide under certain rules, but many countries don’t. One past case with the pod caused police action and a strong public debate. The new plan brings more questions about law, safety, and ethics.
Difficult words: suicide (when a person ends their own life), ethics (ideas and rules about right and wrong acting), choice (choosing between more things), assisted suicide (when a person gets help to die, usually because they are very sick).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What concerns do many doctors and ethics experts have about using AI in the new suicide pod?
