Amazon’s big AI data center – level 2

03-11-2025 15:00

Amazon built a huge AI data center in Indiana on 1,200 acres. The site uses 500,000 Tranium 2 chips to run AI for Anthropic.

One year ago, the land was farmland, but now seven buildings work, and there will be about 30 buildings when complete. The center will use a lot of electricity and water. Locals worry about roads, water, and electricity, so Amazon pays for improvements. The company uses its own chips instead of Nvidia, which lowers costs. This allows fast AI training for Anthropic.

Amazon can build many data centers quickly and provide large computing power. The project shows how technology companies create AI infrastructure and train models at a very large scale.

Difficult words: complete (having all parts or done fully), improvements (changes that make something better or work more effectively), scale (the size or level of something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How many buildings are currently operational on the site, and how many will there be when the data center is complete?
