Zohra Zarougui comes from Tunisia. She is a painter. She uses a special style of painting. It is called Ebru.

Ebru is very old. Artists first use it in the 15th century. It starts in southwestern Asia. Then it spreads to other countries too. For example, it goes to China and India.

Ebru is very different from other styles of painting. It is not easy to learn. You have a pot with a special substance. It looks like water. It is more oily.

You put different dyes in it. They change the color of the water. They make beautiful patterns. Then you put paper or cloth on it. The pattern moves to it.

It is not possible to study Ebru in Tunisia. Zarougui must study in another country. She learns how to make Ebru well. It lasts for many years.

Difficult words: oily (something that feels like water, but it is thicker and smoother), dye (a substance which changes the color of hair, clothes, or other things), pattern (shapes, colors, and lines which repeat and make a picture).
