Better Dairy is a company from the UK. They are making cheese and yogurt without using cows. The cheese tastes and feels like real cheese, but it is better for the natural world.

They use a special method called fermentation to make proteins like casein. Casein makes the cheese taste like real cheese. This method is good for the planet. It does not need cows. It does not need so much land and water.

Right now, Better Dairy is making casein and another protein, osteopontin, in a small lab. They want to make more. They hope to get permission to sell casein by 2028 and osteopontin by 2027.

Difficult words: fermentation (making food using microorganisms), lab (a room or building where experts do tests and experiments), permission (when you can do something because someone says yes).
