Asian markets react to Middle East war – level 1

06-03-2026 07:00

The stock market is a place where people buy and sell parts of companies. Stock markets in Asia go down quickly.

Investors are worried about the war in the Middle East. They think that oil prices may go up. Higher oil prices can make many things more expensive. This can hurt the economy. South Korea’s stock market falls a lot. Japan and Taiwan stock markets fall too.

Many investors are putting money into safer places like cash or gold. They are afraid that the war will last a long time. Energy prices may go up. Many people are worried about what will happen next.

Difficult words: investor (a person who puts money into something to make more money), expensive (when something costs a lot of money), hurt (to cause problems).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why are many investors shifting their money into cash and gold?
