Bad air changes sperm – level 1

16-07-2026 07:00

Dirty air from cars and factories can be bad for men. A new study looks at 1,200 men over four years. Scientists find that bad air changes sperm. These changes can stop men from having babies.

Men who live in big, busy cities breathe in bad smoke every day. This smoke makes their bodies weaker. Their sperm is not so good. This is a big problem for their future children, too.

It is not easy to move away from big cities. But men can wear face masks when the air is very dirty. It also helps to eat good food and walk in the forest sometimes.

Difficult words: sperm (a small part in a man’s body which can make a woman pregnant), breathe in (to take air into your lungs through your nose or mouth), dirty (not clean).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What steps does the text suggest men living in big, busy cities can take to reduce the harmful effects of polluted air on their sperm and future children?
