Bangladesh is fighting a dangerous disease – level 1
21-10-2026 07:00
Bangladesh is fighting a very bad measles outbreak. More than 200,000 people get sick, and over 1,100 people die, mostly young children.
The trouble starts after political protests in 2025. They stop many children from getting their normal vaccines. Because of this, the country loses its level of protection. The government tries to solve the problem with a big emergency program. But many poor villages do not get vaccines. The planning is bad. Parents say that medical workers come too late to save their children.
Experts say that this sad situation is an important message for all countries. It is important to keep their children vaccinated. If not, a disease can start very quickly.
Difficult words: measles (a dangerous disease which causes a fever and a red rash on the skin), outbreak (a quick start or big increase in the number of sick people), protection (when people are safe).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
