Boy in Aleppo – level 1

23-08-2016 07:00

Aleppo is a city in Syria. Rebels hold one of its neighbourhoods. The army attacks the neighbourhood.

Three people die. More people are injured. People find a boy in the rubble. He is only five years old. His hair and face are covered in dirt and blood.

People put him in an ambulance. He is shocked. He doesn’t even cry. He just sits there.

Difficult words: neighbourhood (a part of a city), rubble (pieces of a broken building), dirt (stuff that makes you dirty), blood (the red “water” inside your body).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
