Cameroon crisis – level 1

30-05-2025 07:00

Cameroon is a country in Africa. It will have elections in October. But there is a big problem now. People are fighting in some places. These places speak English.

The fighting starts because people want more help. They want to feel safe and free. Now, many people are hurt. Some people leave their homes. Some people die. It is not safe in schools or on the streets. Bad things happen every day. People cry. People are scared.

The army and the fighters both do bad things. There are talks to stop the fighting, but it does not stop. Life in Cameroon is still hard.

Difficult words: elections (a big vote to choose a leader), scared (afraid), army (a group of people with guns who keep a country safe).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why has fighting begun in some English-speaking areas of Cameroon?
