EU economy is growing – level 1

The eurozone is a group of countries in Europe. At the start of the year, the euro zone is doing a little better than in the past. Experts are happy. Prices stop going up so fast. People have more money. Companies start spending.
The economy grows a little in the first three months. Ireland grows the most. This is because big companies work in Ireland. It is good for them because of taxes. Germany, France, and Italy grow only a little.
Later, things get worse. The US has new rules for business with other countries. Some big car companies in Europe, like Volkswagen, say these rules are bad. European companies will get less money and stop spending.
Difficult words: spend (to use money on something), tax (money which people or companies must pay to the government), rule (something what tells people what they can or cannot do).
