How China deals with trash – level 1
20-05-2025 15:00
Zhangjiagang is a city in China. It has a new way to take care of waste.
People do not put trash in the ground now. The city burns trash in a special place. This makes power and heat. The place is clean. It has no smell. A computer helps control the work. Food waste and home waste go in together. The power helps people in their homes. It is enough for 60,000 homes. After burning, some waste is used to make things for building. The hot air goes to small shops. Dangerous waste also goes to a safe place. This new way helps people and keeps the city clean.
Difficult words: waste (things which people throw away), power (energy which helps machines and lights work), dangerous (not safe).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How many homes can be powered by the electricity generated from burning waste in the city’s special facility?
