Japanese government sells cheap rice – level 1
09-06-2025 07:00
In Japan, many people go to stores to buy cheap rice. The government gives this rice to help with high prices. One bag costs less than usual. Each person can take only one bag. Still, many people wait in line.
The rice price goes up. The farm minister says that the government can give more rice. He also wants to get rice from sellers to help people. He says that shops may sell rice from other countries if the price stays high.
People also buy rice from other countries. It is cheaper, even with extra cost. Japan wants to grow more rice this year.
Difficult words: government (the group of people who lead a country), farm minister (a top person who takes care of farming, food, and growing things on land), extra (more than usual).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What limitation is placed on the number of bags of discounted rice each person can take?
