Jaws documentary – level 2

11-06-2025 07:00

JAWS @ 50 is a new film about the famous movie Jaws. It shows how filmmakers made the movie 50 years ago.

Director Steven Spielberg and others talk about what happened behind the scenes. The movie was hard to make. They filmed in the ocean, the shark often didn’t work, and they were late finishing. Spielberg was scared he might lose his job. In the end, Jaws became a big hit and started the idea of the summer blockbuster. It also helped people care more about sharks.

Experts, scientists, and movie makers all share their memories. Spielberg says Jaws changed his life. Even though there are new shark movies with computer effects, Jaws is still the best to many people.

Difficult words: behind the scenes (what happens during filming that people don’t see), hit (a movie or song which becomes very popular), blockbuster (a very popular movie).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What difficulties arose during the ocean shoots of Jaws, and how did the finished film influence summer blockbusters and shark awareness?
