Kilmar García back in the US – level 1
10-06-2025 15:00
Kilmar García must leave the US and go back to El Salvador.
It happens in March, but it is a mistake. He is now back in the US. The police say he helps bring people into the US without official papers. He makes around 100 trips to Central America. He is now in trouble and may go to court. A long time ago, a judge says García can stay in the US because El Salvador is not safe for him. But they send him anyway. Later, the court says he must come back to have a fair trial.
García’s family says he does nothing wrong. He only works in building houses.
Difficult words: mistake (something wrong), court (a place where meetings with a judge happen), fair trial (a chance to speak to a judge and explain what you do).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why did a judge previously allow García to stay in the US?
