Lego and war – level 1

16-03-2026 07:00

Lego may cost more because energy and materials are becoming more expensive. The reason is the conflict in the Middle East. Oil prices are going up a lot. Lego uses oil to make plastic bricks. Toys may cost more to make.

The company must also pay new taxes on products in the United States. To stop this, Lego builds factories close to where people buy its toys. It plans to open its first factory in the United States in Virginia in 2027.

Even with these problems, Lego is still growing. The company has good sales last year. It seems that this year will be good, too.

Difficult words: expensive (when something costs a lot of money), brick (a small block for building things), tax (money we pay to the government).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What action is Lego taking to avoid paying new taxes on its products in the United States?
