Mark Zuckerberg in court – level 1

23-02-2026 15:00

Mark Zuckerberg is the boss of Meta. He goes to court. A young woman says that Instagram and YouTube make people addicted and sad.

She says that she uses social media when she is very young. She says that it hurts her life and her mental health.

Her lawyer shows emails from the company. The emails talk about more users and time on the app. The lawyer says the company does not follow the age rule well. Children under 13 cannot join, but some still use the app. Children can break this rule easily.

Zuckerberg says that he is sorry. Many parents want a change. They want a fair end to this. This case can change the social media rules.

Difficult words: court (a place where a judge decides about the official rules), addicted (when you cannot stop doing or using something ), mental health (how you feel and think in your mind).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What do the emails shown by the lawyer reveal about the company’s priorities?
