Midwives help Mexican migrants – level 1

20-01-2025 07:00

Many Mexican people want to get to the US. Some women are pregnant. They are getting help from kind midwives in Mexico. These midwives are volunteers. It means that they do not get any money for their work.

These midwives visit shelters and camps. They check the health of moms and babies. They also give massages and advice. They help mothers see doctors.

One mother stops traveling because her baby will come soon. A doctor checks her every two weeks. Mothers say that midwives are kind and caring. It helps them feel strong and safe during difficult times.

Difficult words: midwife (a person who helps a woman during pregnancy and birth), shelter (a safe place), advice (when someone tells you what you should do in a situation).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What kind of assistance do the volunteer midwives in Mexico provide to pregnant women who are trying to get to the US?
