27-10-2026 15:00
New York City wants to stop horse carriages in Central Park by 2028. Many people say that working in the city is bad and dangerous for horses.
A bad accident with a horse happens some time ago. A tourist dies. Now, city leaders want to ban the rides. Drivers and workers are sad and angry. They will lose their jobs. They say that carriages are an old tradition. It belongs to New York since the 1800s. City leaders want to help the workers and keep the horses safe.
Many visitors say that it is time to keep the animals safe. There are other ways to see the park than using horses.
Difficult words: horse carriage (a vehicle with wheels which a horse or more horses pull), ban (an official stop), tradition (something what people do for a long time).
