People play video games in cinemas – level 2

11-02-2022 15:00

During the pandemic, people could not go to cinemas or theaters. Now, a Finnish company named Finnkino came up with a way for people to still enjoy their time there.

In two cinemas in the capital city of Helsinki, people can play video games with their friends. Finnkino rents out screens to groups of up to ten people. People need to bring their own consoles, games, and wireless controllers. They pay 280 dollars per group for a session which lasts two and a half hours. This is about twice as much as one person pays for a cinema ticket.

Finnkino started to offer this service one month ago. If more people are interested, it could spread to other cities.

Difficult words: rent out (to let someone use something, and he will pay money for it), console (a small electric device for playing video games), wireless (a device which works without a cable).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
