Pesticide Ban – level 1

16-10-2019 07:00

A pesticide is a chemical that a farmer uses to keep insects away from his crops.

California bans a pesticide. This pesticide is very dangerous for people. It is more dangerous than everybody thinks. It can damage children’s brains. Farmers use it on many different crops.

An environmental organization signs a deal with the company that makes the pesticide. The sale of the pesticide ends in February 2020. Farmers can use it until the end of 2020. Farmers get money to find a safer pesticide.

The California governor says that this is a big victory for all people in California.

Difficult words: ban (stop companies from making or selling something), crops (a plant a farmer grows a lot of to sell for food or to make things), victory (a win).
