Robots run in a half-marathon – level 2

25-04-2025 15:00

In Beijing, 21 robots joined people in a half-marathon for the first time. The race was 21 kilometers long.

The robots were from Chinese companies and had different sizes. Some were very small, and others were tall. One robot could even smile and wink. Some robots wore shoes and headbands. Many people watched the race and were excited. The fastest robot was Tiangong Ultra. It finished the race in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Engineers helped the robots during the race. One robot even fell but stood up again. Another hit a barrier and knocked over a person.

The race showed what robots can do. Some people say it helps the robot industry, but others think it doesn’t show if robots can do real work.

Difficult words: race (a sport to see who is fastest), wink (to close and open one eye quickly), barrier (a long pole or wall which stops people from getting somewhere).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What was the name of the fastest robot, and how long did it take to complete the race?
