South Korean Movie – level 1

31-01-2020 07:00

The movie “Parasite” is nominated for the best international film at the Oscars. This makes history for South Korea, the international film category, and international movies.

This is the first South Korean movie to be nominated at the Oscars. Italian and French movies win the most awards at the Oscars. However, Polish, Hungarian, Iranian, Chilean, and Mexican movies win awards in the last five years.

Many people who write about movies and regular people talk about “Parasite.” An expert says that this is unusual that this international movie is so popular. However, digital platforms help more people see international movies.

Difficult words: parasite (a small insect that eats the blood of larger animals, a plant that eats off a larger plant, or a person who secretly takes things from another person), nominate (to choose something or someone that can win an award), the Oscars (an awards show for movies or films), digital platform (an online service).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
