Spain and Portugal blackouts – level 1

There is no power in Spain and Portugal. Some places in France have no power too. Trains stop. Planes do not fly. Cars cannot go because traffic lights do not work. Shops close. People cannot use phones. They cannot pay with cards.
Nobody knows why this happens. Some people say the weather is the reason. Some people say the power system has a big problem. The Portuguese leaders say that the weather is the problem. Spanish leaders ask people to use phones only if they need to.
Some power comes back now, but not everywhere. Many people wait. It is hard to live without power. This shows how much people need power every day.
Difficult words: power (energy for lights, machines, phones, etc.), traffic light (colored lights which control how people and cars move).
