Teenage mothers in Venezuela – level 1

17-11-2014 15:00

This news is from Venezuela. A girl becomes pregnant every 3 minutes there. These girls are under 18.

Some people think that this is a problem. They do not say that maternity is bad. They say that teenage girls are too young for this. The girls have other problems. Their bodies and minds are changing fast. Having a child is a problem for them.

A group of people put mannequins in a shop window. These mannequins are not normal. They look like pregnant girls. People see them. They start to talk about the problem.

Difficult words: pregnant (with a baby inside the body), maternity (being a mother), mannequin (a model that wears clothes which is in the shop window).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

When do you think women should have their first baby?
