Teens cannot read – level 1
22-09-2026 15:00
Reading test scores for teenagers are falling in many countries. Experts say that screens make young people read too fast. Children skim words on their phones and tablets. They do not understand the main ideas.
Also, using AI to write paper assignments stops the brain from learning. This is bad for the future. People need to read to think well. If not, they easily believe fake news and bad information.
But we can change this situation. Parents should read books to young children every day. Reading real books for 20 minutes a day helps the brain grow strong and keeps reading skills safe.
Difficult words: score (the number of points in a test or game), skim (to read something quickly), assignment (a piece of work or task).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How many minutes a day should parents read real books to young children to help the brain grow strong and protect reading skills?
