The Doomsday Clock in 2026 – level 2
02-02-2026 15:00
Atomic scientists move the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight than ever before. The clock now shows eighty-five seconds to midnight. This means the world faces danger.
Scientists warn about nuclear weapons, wars, climate problems, and new technology like AI.
The experts worry about actions by the United States, Russia, and China. These countries show more power and less trust. Wars in Ukraine and the Middle East worry people, too. Nuclear deals don’t work, and leaders fail to work together. AI also helps spread false news and creates new risks.
Scientists say world leaders must do something fast. They need to talk, trust each other, and protect peace. Without change, danger for the world will grow.
Difficult words: doomsday (a time of very great danger or the end of the world), trust (belief that someone is honest and will do the right thing), peace (life without war or fighting).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What actions do scientists say world leaders must take to prevent growing danger?
