Trump wants to stop money for Harvard University – level 1
24-04-2025 07:00
President Trump says Harvard should not get money from the government. He also says Harvard should pay taxes.
This is because of protests at the school. The protests are about Gaza. Trump says the school does not stop antisemitism. The government asks Harvard to change how it gets new students and teachers. Harvard says no. Trump then stops giving over 2 billion dollars to the school.
Some people ask why Harvard needs money. It is very rich. Harvard says it will fight this. People say the government does not follow the rules. The court will decide. The result is important for all schools in the country.
Difficult words: tax (money you must pay to the government), antisemitism (bad ideas and actions towards Jewish people), rich (when someone has a lot of money).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What did Trump say Harvard failed to stop, leading him to cut more than 2 billion dollars in government funding?
