Waiter Race – level 1

19-10-2017 07:00

People call Buenos Aires, Argentina, ‘the Paris of the South’. Buenos Aires takes pride in its café culture. It also hosts a waiter race. People organise this every year.

Hundreds of waiters and waitresses take part in the race. They must run 1,600 metres with drinks. The winner gets 1,000 US dollars.

Difficult words: take pride (feel good because of something good), race (an event when people run and try to be the fastest), take part (do, run and try to win).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
