Woman sentenced to death in the USA – level 2

06-10-2015 15:00

Georgia, a state in the USA, executed a 47-year-old woman. She was the first woman in 70 years to be executed by the state. A judge sentenced the woman to death for her role in plotting her husband’s murder in 1997.

Pope Francis was recently on a tour in the USA and he tried to help this woman.

Difficult words: execute (to carry out the sentence of death), sentence (to punish somebody for doing something bad), plot (to plan).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think about executing criminals?
