Gene-edited horses – level 1

In Argentina, five new horses are very special. They are the first gene-edited horses in the world.
Scientists use a tool called CRISPR to change their DNA. They make the horses grow more muscle, so they can be faster. The company Kheiron Biotech believes that this is a big step for polo.
But the Argentine Polo Association says no. These horses cannot play polo games. They want the sport to stay natural, with normal breeding. Some people are afraid that other countries will not buy these new horses.
In the past, Argentina already used science like cloning. Some people like new ideas, but others do not. Nobody knows yet if these horses are really better.
Difficult words: gene-edited (when scientists change the DNA of a living thing to give it special qualities), natural (something that happens by itself in nature, without changes by people), breeding (producing young animals by carefully choosing parents).
