Trump speaks at the United Nations – level 2
26-09-2025 15:00
President Trump returned to the UN and criticised the organisation’s effectiveness.
He called climate change a con job and warned about migration problems in Western countries. He joked about the teleprompter, then told world leaders he ended seven wars and said the UN didn’t help.
Trump said many people crossed borders, and this caused crime and hurt services. He told countries to protect their people and to act against illegal migration. He also said many climate predictions were wrong and called some green policies a scam.
In the speech, he spoke about himself, strongly warned about migration, and the role of the United Nations. He said that big organizations only talk but don’t do anything.
Difficult words: effectiveness (how well something works or brings the result you want), con job (a trick to make people believe something that is not true to get money or power), teleprompter (a machine which shows a speaker their text), prediction (what you think will happen in the future).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which reasons did Trump give for urging countries to protect their citizens against illegal migration?
