Magnum Ice Cream Company – level 2
24-10-2025 07:00
Unilever cannot start its new Magnum Ice Cream company now because the US government shutdown stopped important work. The US market office, called the SEC, cannot check the company papers, so Unilever must wait.
The ice cream company wanted to start selling shares in Amsterdam, New York, and London in November. But the delay is not a big problem, and Unilever says it will continue later this year. The company will still own about 20% of the business.
The shutdown is already hurting other companies and the US economy. But Unilever’s investors say they are not worried because they believe the company is strong and will grow in the future.
Difficult words: shutdown (when the government stops work), share (a small part of a company), delay (when someone or something is late).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
In which three markets did the ice cream company aim to sell its shares in November?
