FIFA boss Gianni Infantino stopped his plan to sell parts of the World Cup to private rich investors. He offered 40 million dollars to every football team to say yes, but people everywhere got really angry.

European football leaders said they would boycott the 2030 World Cup, so famous players wouldn’ play. Other sports groups around the world also spoke out against the idea. Infantino later said the plan caused too many arguments instead of bringing people together, so it will not happen. Investors quickly walked away from the deal. Experts think this is a big embarrassment for Infantino and makes his job as leader very hard, because fans really want to keep private money out of football.

Difficult words: investor (a person or company which puts money into a business or project), boycott (to stop buying or doing something as a protest), embarrassment (a situation which makes someone look crazy or bad in front of others).
