A fake video and a big crime – level 2
01-04-2026 07:00
Stephen McCullagh killed his partner, Natalie, who was pregnant. He tried to trick the police with a very clever plan.
He put a long video of himself playing games on YouTube. People thought the video was live, but it was recorded before. While people watched the video, Stephen went to Natalie’s house and killed her. After the murder, Stephen pretended to be very sad. He cried and talked to Natalie’s family. He thought his plan was perfect, but the police found the truth on his computer. They saw that his YouTube stream was a lie. The jury found him guilty of murder.
This story shows that even a computer cannot hide a crime from the police forever.
Difficult words: trick (to make someone believe something that is not true so you can get what you want), pretend (to behave as if something is true when you know that it is actually not), guilty (when a judge or jury says that a person officially did a crime ).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What did the police discover on Stephen’s computer that exposed his YouTube stream as a lie?
