A shark in a canal – level 1

06-10-2026 07:00

A big shark is stuck in a canal in South Korea. The shark is over three meters long. It is in the canal for three weeks now. Local people call the shark Bukangi. Many people go to watch it swim.

Rescuers try to help the shark go back to the sea. They use a big net, but the net hit rocks. Experts say that city lights and noise confuse the shark. It cannot find its way out. Rescuers now hope that the ocean water will help the shark swim home naturally.

Scientists say warmer seawater brings more sharks near the country.

Difficult words: stuck (when you cannot move or get out of), confuse (when someone cannot think clearly or understand a situation), naturally (when something happens without any help).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How long has the shark been in the canal?
