Australian fitness athlete Joanna Wietrzyk won a big indoor competition in Beijing, China. But her victory caused a lot of discussion because she was very sick during the race.

Wietrzyk had severe stomach problems and left feces on shared sports equipment and carpets. After winning, she went to the hospital and posted a picture on social media. In the post, she wrote A win is a win. Some people praised her because she worked very hard and didn’t stop although she had problems.  But many other people were angry. They said her condition was unsafe and dirty for other athletes.

People also asked why the organizers didn’t stop her to give her medical care. The event organizers had to close some lanes, change the carpet, and clean everything carefully. The story shows a big debate about sports rules and athlete health.
